The Initial Consultation

The Urban Health care team understands the disease of obesity and can help you with a full medical weight management plan. The initial consult will focus on your medical evaluation.

We look for conditions that relate to obesity and the reasons that are associated with it. There will be a medical exam, along with your weight history. This weight history will include all your past diet attempts and will most likely involve some past history of your mental well-being.

Many patients have undiagnosed diabetes, high cholesterol, thyroid disorders, abnormal liver tests, and sleep apnea. More testing can be decided on, depending on your medical history and physical findings.

Physician management of obesity can include diet and exercise, a pre-packaged meal replacement plan, and weight-loss medications. Diet and exercise are the first-line defense for a good weight loss program.

We do understand that most patients that are affected by obesity will struggle with this. But diet and exercise will be the starting point on your weight loss journey.

Diet and Physical Activity

Giving up the foods we like and are used to eating is hard to accept. We know that when you diet, the body will react and compensate for increasing your appetite and slowing down your metabolism.

As a result, the weight loss by diet by itself is around 5 percent of your total body weight. Physical activity is vital to include in any weight loss program. Physical activity will increase your metabolism and help improve your weight loss.

Physical activity is important to help maintain your weight loss in the long term. With smartphone apps and full-service fitness centers, you can make exercise a part of your daily routine.

Perhaps, you can start slowly by walking each day and use the Fit Bit App to help track your steps and heart rate.

Pre-packaged Meal Replacement Plans

Pre-packaged meal replacement plans are medically supervised weight management programs that use meal replacement and behavior change counseling to help patients to reach and maintain their weight-loss goals.

This program allows patients to go from prepacked meal replacement food to self-prepared meals. We will offer patient education and support, along with this transition.

We assist you to move on to the long-term management of your weight loss. You will have guidance from a team of healthcare professionals, group or individual counseling, and other support options.

Patients can lose as much as 50 pounds poor more in 18 to 24 weeks!

Urban Health Weight Loss Program

Dr. Gonzalez and Dr. Moreno have devised a health care program for their patients, and we now offer a weight loss program. With the addition of Wendimere Reilly, RDN LDN to the provider team, we are the only office in Central Florida with a full-time primary care dietitian nutritionist.

Wendimere is accepting new patients, accepts most insurance, and offers both in-office and Telehealth appointments.

Urban Health’s medical weight loss program is committed to helping people achieve and maintain weight loss success and improving their lives. The weight loss program is designed to help you meet your goals and find your healthy weight.

  • Wendimere will review each patient’s food and exercise history. Medical professionals will address any psychological issues such as depression, eating disorders, and other addictions. We can help create an individualized exercise program, which may include stress testing. Medication, such as appetite suppressants, may be prescribed to assist in your weight loss.
  • We recognize the challenges associated with being obese and the consequences of how obesity affects your body. We will create a plan that fits your unique needs, individualizing your medical care, improving health outcomes, and medical conditions associated with obesity. Some of these medical conditions include diabetes, high blood pressure, liver disease, shortness of breath and exercise intolerance, polycystic ovarian syndrome, pre-surgical weight loss, and other various conditions related to obesity.

We wish to empower our patients to work together with practitioners to address the underlying causes of your disease with a patient-centered approach.

The team will help you make the needed behavioral, dietary, and lifestyle changes to increase your success and well-being. We provide the necessary laboratory testing and required nutritional guidance to help you move forward to wellness.

For example, Wendimere Reilly, RDN LDN, can advise and create a ketogenic diet, especially for your individual needs as you move along in your weight loss program.

This ketogenic diet is a low carbohydrate diet that is based on vegetables, fats, and protein. When your body does not get enough carbohydrates, it will shift from burning sugar for energy to burning stored fat.

This program will be medically managed, and you will be able to integrate the diet into your daily routine successfully. Our weight loss program is created to individualize your nutrition plan based on your personal goals and medical needs.

Another Diet /Weight loss Program You Can Discuss With Urban Health’s Dietitian, Wendimere Reilly, RDN LDN

The Paleo Diet is a dietary plan that is based on foods similar to what might have been eaten during the paleolithic era, which dates from about 2.5 million to 10,000 years ago.

The Paleo diet includes lean meats, fish, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. A Paleo diet limits foods such as dairy products, legumes, and grains.

You might choose to follow a Paleo diet because you want to lose weight or want to maintain a healthy weight. It is recommended that you eat lean meats, particularly grass-fed animals, and fish rich in omega-3 fatty acids such as salmon and albacore tuna.

Benefits from following a Paleo diet include more weight loss, improved glucose tolerance, better blood pressure control, lower triglycerides, and better appetite management. The overall conclusion from taking up and following a Paleo diet is that there are no long-term studies about the benefits and potential risks of the diet.

However, a Paleo diet may help you lose weight or help you maintain your weight and other sound health effects. If you are thinking of following a Paleo diet, speak with Urban Health’s dietitian for a diet plan.
